“We had always wanted to have a sculpture of one of our cocker spaniels but it needed to capture the personality of the dog and the idea of it ‘missing the mark’ made it a lengthy process to find the right person for the job. We were in no rush but wanted to get it right … it’s a very personal piece of work.
We first saw Suzie’s work at a craft fair local to our home and loved the detail and character which each dog clearly possessed, we felt we knew the dogs although we had never met them … which is quite an achievement!!
We were very impressed by the time invested by Suzie in getting to know our dogs and in particular Rosie who seemed a natural at posing for the photographs Suzie needed for the sculpture. The finish, size, and position of the sculpture were all discussed and we felt Suzie understood what we would value and love in the sculpture she would make for us.
It was a long anxious wait for Rosie to be immortalised in clay …. but we needn’t have worried she is truly gorgeous and we are delighted with her. The detail particularly her eyes capture her naughty but loyal nature to perfection and she gains many compliments from visiting guests. I can’t resist giving her a ‘pat’ when I pass by, rather like the real one but better behaved.
We are so pleased we followed our intuition and asked Suzie to make the sculpture, it was a joy to work with her and we have exactly what we had hoped for, Rosie looking longingly at us willing us to give her attention, just like the real one for sure”.
Send Suzie an enquiry if you have any questions or would like to find out more about the commission process.
